We all know what these guys look like from the factory....silver with a blue face. Well, I have a very blue theme going on but the sliver HAD to go. So I painted them. I used a flat black from plastik coat and covered them evenly.....then I applied clear. BUT, I did not merely shoot the clear on. Using very smooth strokes I lightly allowed the clear to fall on the paint creating a rough non-shiny look. The result was exactly what I wanted....it looks OEM. I also found a couple of tricks if your thinking of doing this. Heres what it looks like all painted up. Notice the rough but even surface. Again....thats from holding the clear coat paint away and above the peice being painted and letting the paint drift its way onto the material.
Heres a shot of the AFC all taken apart
NOW....VERY IMPORTANT. If you paint them...you have to clean the paint out of the holes where the buttons go. I udes mineral spirits and many Q-tips. Dip the Q-tip in the spirits and run until the paint clomes off. This way the buttons wont stick when you push them, after the untits are back together. This pic shows how I have done this
You can see in this pic the excess paint in the holes....
And now that you have that done....you put it back together. This is if you were ever curious what was in those little boxes.
Here we are all buttoned back up.
Now time for the mounts.....I applied the double stick tape
And heres a big pic of them mounted above the center consol air vents. You have feed the cable in through the outter most holes....and the harness barely fits in there...so take it easy. I really like this location (thanks Sponge for the insperation)

What do think????? BIG thanks to AzinAZ for the mounts....you rock!
